Vivian Carol Klukow, 89, Albert Lea

A memorial service for Vivian Carol Klukow, of 1013 Foothills Circle, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Lissa Kahl will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Alden Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Vivian died on Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 89 years old.

Vivian was born in Alden on April 7, 1913, the daughter of Otto and Laura (Christensen) Van Deer. She attended the Van Deer elementary school near her home and was a 1930 graduate of Alden High School and a 1932 graduate of Wells Teachers Training School. She taught for two years at Mansfield Country School.

On July 5, 1932 Vivian was united in marriage with Lester Klukow. They owned and operated the Tastee Freeze Drive-in in Albert Lea for many years. Vivian had also worked for the Clothing Care Center in Albert Lea. Family was very important to Vivian and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Vivian is survived by her seven children: Richard Klukow of Saint Petersburg, Fla., Marlene Jensen and her husband Richard of Glenville, Jerry Klukow and his wife Sandy of Clearwater, Fla., Dennis Klukow of Ft. Myers, Fla., Bonnie Linde of Albert Lea, Jack Klukow and his wife Elaine of Bismarck, N.D., and Roger Klukow and his wife Ruth of Champlin, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Scheid of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters-in-law: Edna Van Deer of Sarasota, Fla., and Ruth Van Deer of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester, in 1975; two grandchildren: Mike and Jodi Klukow; two brothers: Russell and John Van Deer; one sister, Helen Sorensen; and one daughter-in-law, Peggy Klukow.
