The memorial service for Evelyn D. Stadheim of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. An interment service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Lakewood Cemetery, for those who wish to attend.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St., Albert Lea.
Evelyn died in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
She was born on March 22, 1932, in Freeborn County, the daughter of David and Clara (Bergeson) Opdahl.
Evie was a graduate of Alden High School and later obtained her R.N. degree from Naeve Hospital School of Nursing.
On Aug. 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Arnold M. Stadheim.
They made their home in Albert Lea and were blessed with five children.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, president of First Lutheran Church Women and a member of Circle 29.
She was a member of P.E.O. and also Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Evie will be lovingly missed by her family: husband, Arnold of Albert Lea; daughter Beth and her husband Edward Ordalen of Albert Lea and children Jennifer and Ahne (Tad Lunning) and great-grandson Easton; son Steven Stadheim and his wife Thresa of Austin, Texas, and children Ryan and Adam; son Mark Stadheim and his wife Terri of Albert Lea and children Ross, Alex, Grant and Nathan Stadheim, daughter Paula and her husband David Knutson of Edina and children Laura, Molly and John Peter; son Jeffrey Stadheim and his wife Lori of Mason City, Iowa, and children Emily, Katie and Peter; sisters: Berdine Honsey of Emmons, Ruth Schmidt of Golden Valley, Valborg Larson of Enumclaw, Wash.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Edward and Blanche Stadheim of Lyle, Stanley and Babe Stadheim of Albert Lea, Louis and Alberta Stadheim of Austin, Annabelle Allan of Los Angeles, Calif., Janet Stadheim of Albert Lea, David and Marilyn Stadheim of Albert Lea, John and Janis Stadheim of Lake City, and Tony Kocanda of St. Paul. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Buell and his wife Cora Opdahl and Orrin and his wife Lucille Opdahl; sisters: Eunice Opdahl, Agnes and husband Arnie Groe and Helen and husband Vernon Kaplan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard Stadheim, Edna Mae Kocanda and Don Allan.
In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the donor’s choice or to the Evelyn D. Stadheim Memorial Nurses Scholarship fund.
Evie will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
