Funeral services for Dorothy Hilda Olson Waltz, 92, of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Dorothy Hilda Olson Waltz was born on Aug. 14, 1917, to William and Beatrice (Mathison) Hall in Albert Lea. She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Dorothy worked as a sales clerk for Skahan’s Store and Westrum’s Outlet. On June 26, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to Freemont S. (Tom) Olson. The couple had three daughters. After Freemont’s death, Dorothy married Dean C. Waltz on Dec. 20, 1977. She was a very thoughtful person who enjoyed sending cards to people and visiting those who were shut-ins and in nursing homes. Dorothy was always ready for a party or get together with friends and family. Dorothy was a member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, where she was active in mission circle. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Senior Center crafts and bingo, and was a past member of the Elks and Eagles.  Dorothy loved to play piano, read and dance. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles, games and watching television.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her along with her special friends Margie, Chieko, Hilde, Audrey and Syd.
Survivors include her daughters: Judith Ann (Jerry) McDonnell of Anchorage, Alaska, Joanne Elaine (Gene) Hansen of Albert Lea, and Mary Linda Heintz of Burnsville; grandchildren: Kimberly (Jeffrey) Turner, Jon (Jayne) Hansen, Kacy (Scott) Hillman, Annie Heintz, John (Amanda) Heintz; great-grandchildren: Elias Hansen, Lindsey and Brittney Turner, and Anthony Heintz; step-children: Daryl (Donna) Waltz, Dale (Debbie) Waltz, Dalys (Diane) Waltz, Darla (Hallie) Pruitt, Dana Waltz, Delare (John) Delaney, Dylan (Jennifer) Waltz, Darcy (Lynn) Waltz; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Joy White; sisters-in-law: Helen Schoen and Cordelia Olson; brothers-in-law: Vernon (Joyce) Olson and Walter (Mona) Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: William and Beatrice Hall; husbands: Freemont S. (Tom) Olson and Dean C. Waltz; brothers: Stanley and Pershing Hall; sister, Synola Payne; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
