A memorial service for Connie Lee Bork, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Albert Lea.
Connie died Monday, June 13, 2011, at her home in Las Vegas. She was 74 years old.
Connie was born Sept. 23, 1936, to Lloyd and Evelyn Bork (Bush) in Nashua, Iowa. As a child, Connie grew up in Myrtle. She attended high school in Albert Lea where she graduated. Connie worked for several years as a beautician at the Looking Glass in Albert Lea. In 1963, Connie relocated to Honolulu where she continued her work as a beautician for over 30 years. In 1991, she moved to Las Vegas and worked for Burlington Coat Factory until her retirement. Connie was united in marriage to Duane Ringoen on Aug. 30, 1958. This union was dissolved after three years.
Connie is survived by her sisters: Willa (Delmar) Sanderson of Glenville, Sharyn (Phillip) Swensrud of Albert Lea, and Jan (Joseph) Mildenberger of Apple Valley; nephew Michael (Darci) Sanderson of Glenville; nieces: Rebecca (Scott) Bachtle of Albert Lea, Michelle Sanderson of Albert Lea, Lisa (Don) Dowd of Struthers, Ohio, and Tanya (Brad) Fjelsta of Albert Lea; several great-neices and nephews; also survived are her friends of Hawaii, Nevada, Iowa and Minnesota.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Bork, and mother, Evelyn Bork, in 2004.
Connie will be affectionately remembered for her beautiful dark complexion, her contagious laugh, her love for Elvis and the Vegas slots.
Because Connie spent a majority of her life in Hawaii, she will always be remembered in a song revised and sung by her mother, Evelyn. “My Connie lies over the ocean, my Connie lies over the sea, my Connie lies over the ocean, so bring back my Connie to me.” Blessed be her memory.
