Kudos to state leaders who declined pay

Column: Thanks for Listening

I would like to applaud Rich Murray and Dan Sparks for declining their pay during the state shutdown. I think it goes a long way to showing all of us that we have two representatives from our area who “get it.”

The following representatives do not “get it” as they all decided to take their full pay while the state was shut down. I challenge all of them to donate their pay to a local charity.

Time for Pie

The fifth annual Ryan “Pie” Truesdell Memorial Sports Weekend is coming up soon. It is held on Sept. 10 and 11 and is always a good time. Please sign up for one of the amazing tournaments. The event has softball, bean bag toss, volleyball, home run derby, fishing and golf to compete in.

If competing is not what you like to do then cheering for your favorite team and a good cause should be.

Wait. How about eating?

Also as a part of the memorial weekend to Pie there will be great food on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Club. You can choose from burgers to pork sandwiches followed by everyone’s favorite, karaoke.

This fantastic sports weekend is in its fifth year and just keeps growing. Hurry up and get your teams in.
