You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Albert Lea Public Library children’s room: Delivery person needed for one hour per month to take bags of books to day care site. Please call Patti Greibrok, youth services librarian, at 377-4356.

Brownie Scouts: Have fun helping another scout leader to provide scouting activities after school for second and third grade girls. The schedule is yours to determine — once or twice a month, perhaps. Or offer just one afternoon to demonstrate a skill or craft you know about for scouts of any age. Please call Mary Goetz at 1-800-845-0787 ext. 1624 for additional information.

Big Island Rendezvous: It’s great to celebrate Minnesota history by leading a tour with elementary students through the Big Island Rendezvous. Tour guides are needed to ensure that the classes get to their appointed areas on schedule. Just come to the orientation at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, a rain date is set for Sept. 28, at Bancroft Bay. You are needed for Sept. 29 and 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help one day or two and get free admission to the weekend event. New School Days Guides are always welcome.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
