Here are highlights in history for Dec. 22, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1991 — Winners of the third annual Christmas lighting contest were Peter and Linda Phelps who lived next to U.S. Highway 65 between Albert Lea and Glenville.

1981 — A Tribune article emphasized that there were city and county regulations for use of snowmobiles. Several were based on traveling on lake ice and city streets.

1941 — The Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted to oppose the city council’s proposed action to install parking meters in the business district.
