Albert Lea places 10th at Big Nine meet

The Albert Lea boys’ swimming and diving team placed 10th on Saturday at the Big Nine Conference meet at the Rochester Recreation Center.

The Tigers accumulated 101.5 points, and Rochester Century ran away with the title with 377.5 points. Rochester Mayo placed second with 284.5 points.

Three Tigers swimmers reached the Section 1A cut time in the 100-yard freestyle, inlcuding Andrew Ehrhardt, who placed 21st in 55.48 seconds, Larry Holcomb, who placed 26th in 57.33 and Luke Sundblad, who finished 37th in 1:00.18.

Isaac Olson made the secion cut in the 100-yard backstroke by placing 16th in 1:04.70 and Fjeldberg 31st in 1:12.33.

Ehrhardt dropped more than five seconds off his seed time to place 20th in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.14 and make the section cut, and Sundblad placed 33rd in 2:14.03, more than seven seconds less than his seed time.

Corbin Schultz and Kyle Zogg made the section cut in the 100-yard breastroke by placing 15th and 31st, respectively.

Preston Smith placed ninth in the 100-yard butterly in 57.93 and 16th in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.32. Daniel Gould placed ninth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:20.08 and ninth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:15.38.
