SUV kills St. Paul student outside schoolPublished 8:59am Friday, July 6, 2012
ST. PAUL — St. Paul school officials said they are making counselors available to students after a teenager was killed by a sports utility vehicle.
Police were questioning a 50-year-old man who was driving right before it crashed into 16-year-old Clarisse Grime at about 1 p.m. Thursday in front of Harding High School.
Her 17-year-old boyfriend, Eduardo Vazquez-Torres was also treated at a local hospital for noncritical injuries.
Police spokesman Howie Padilla said witnesses indicated the driver of the SUV was speeding when he tried to turn left and misjudged the corner.
Student Anthony Williams said he saw the SUV run over a hydrant and cross the street onto a sidewalk where the driver got out but the SUV kept moving and hit Grime.
