The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of ELCA held their monthly meeting on July 8 at 9:30 a.m.

Co-President Caroline Sorenson called the meeting to order and led devotions.

Secretary’s report was given by Lorraine Schaper and was approved as printed in the newsletter. Cheryl Venem gave the treasurer’s report.

Thank you notes were read from the following graduating seniors thanking the church women for the graduation brunch and for the quilt each senior received which were made by the quilting ladies of Ascension. Thank yous were from Erin Everhard, Tyler Wichman, Lane Schallock and Kimberly Schiltz.

Old business: Quest Night at Ascension Lutheran Church will be Aug. 14, beginning with salad supper at 6 p.m. with the Rhubard Sisters from Lanesboro giving the program.

Venem passed out a list for each circle for items needed for the salad supper, and circle leaders were asked to return their list by July 18 to Venem.

Women were reminded that the southeastern Minnesota Synod Women’s Retreat is on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a cost of $10 for the day (lunch included). Cost to ride the bus is $10. Registration forms were passed out and extra forms are posted on the bulletin board. The bus will pick up on Aug. 21 in Albert Lea. You may turn your registration form and payment into Caroline Sorenson by July 25 and she will turn them in for the church.

New business: Guest Night Invitation from Emmons Lutheran Church Women which was at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Program was to be given by JoAnn Brown of Leland, Iowa, playing cow bells. Car pool from Ascension left at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 12: Mary Circle will serve Sunday coffee at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

The Good Earth quilt auction will be Saturday afternoon on Aug. 18 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.

Reminder to Nominating Committee (Jan Jerdee and Alice Jensen) to have a slate to be presented at the WELCA Combined Bible Study of all Circles and WELCA annual meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 11. Hostess will be Esther Circle.
