These are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

First aid gifts: Just ask at Raleigh’s Ace Hardware, 2525 Bridge Ave., Albert Lea, for the RSVP just-right size first aid kids that are equipped for your outdoor person, traveler, pet or home emergencies. Spring and summer bring graduations, confirmations and gift giving events so your gift is helping two — you and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program together. Sales will close July 30.

Youth activity guides: Plan ahead to help hand out the youth activity guides that are being prepared for distribution Aug. 29 and 30 at our elementary schools. It’s a great way to encourage students and families to be active in our county.

Reading Partners and Minnesota Reading Corps: Children need an audience when they read aloud. You can be that person who encourages a child’s success in school through increased reading skills. Please leave a message for Linda Bottelson at 379-5115 to request more information and to volunteer. Your presence will mean so much to a child.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
