Meranne Merrill Whitney and Lucas Carl Behrends were married at 3:30 p.m. June 2 at Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport Island, Maine. The Rev. James S. Chaloner performed the double-ring ceremony.
The bride’s parents are Eli and Quincy Whitney, of Nashua, N.H. Grandmother is Alberta Whitney of Nashua.
Parents of the groom are Tom and Laurie Behrends, of Albert Lea. Grandparents are Warren Behrends, of Albert Lea, and Pat Hovey, of Eden Prairie.
“Made” of honor was Gabe Whitney, brother of the bride, of Nashua, N.H. Bridesmaids were Erin Anderson, teammate and loyal friend, of Nashua, Blair Curran, childhood bath buddy, New York City accomplice, Tamara Mans, lifelong friend, neighbor and generous soul, Sarah Saline, New York City bud, former colleague and kindred spirit, Elizabeth Schwab, Nashua teammate and partner in crime, Kassy Slattery, childhood bowl cut buddy, unwavering ally, Kate Van Wagner, everything-in-life homegirl, and Michaela Zebrak, Nashua friend, point guard, source of laughter.
Best man was Mike Behrends, brother of the groom, of Minneapolis. Groomsmen were Zack Brennan, Drake teammate, Jake Goodnature, kindergarten classmate, Charles Hodges, Wieden work wife, Andy Thieman, Minneapolis soul mate, Ross Weythman, ad center compadre, and Gabriel Whitney, broseph. Usher was Mikayla Hovey, cousin of groom, of Eden Prairie.
Pianist was Nona Hovey, aunt of groom, and on trumpet was Matt Van Wagner, “uncle” of bride.
Readers were Maverick Hovey, cousin of groom, Jayant Kamath, friend of bride and groom, and Matthew Van Wagner, friend of bride and groom.
A performance was done by Mike Behrends, brother of groom.
Luke is from Albert Lea, and Meranne is from New Hampshire. They fell in love in Richmond, moved to New York City and got married in Maine. During a freak tropical storm. It doesn’t make sense, but boy was it ever a blast.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University and a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is employed with TAXI in New York City.
The groom has his bachelor’s degree from University of Minnesota in Twin Cities and his master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is employed at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York City.
A wedding trip is planned to Fiji from Christmas to New Year’s.
