26-year-old allegedly baits cops
Published 1:32pm Tuesday, August 28, 2012AUSTIN — A 26-year-old Mankato man was arrested early Monday for possessing drug paraphernalia and fleeing an Austin police officer, allegedly to see if he could get away with it.
Austin police spotted John Fargen near the 800 block of 19th Street NE at about 1 a.m. Monday, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. Fargen allegedly turned away from the police cruiser and looked like he was trying to hide something from the officer.
When police pulled up to the curb, Fargen allegedly took off despite warnings from police, Krueger said. An officer chased Fargen through several yards, eventually catching him at 19th Place and Seventh Avenue NE.
Police found glass pipes with what looked to be marijuana residue on Fargen, according to Krueger. When asked why he ran, Fargen allegedly told police he wanted to see if he could get away.
Fargen was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia and fleeing an officer. He awaits formal charges at the Mower County jail.

If ever an idiot was born, this guy was the one. He thinks it’s a game to play trying to get away from the police. He must not have seen those horrific crashes that happen when someone running crashes into an innocent driver with possible passengers going about their daily lives. He better wake up and figure out how he wants to spend the rest of his life, free or in jail for homicide from a car accident.
Play a stupid game win the stupid prize.
well now he should have a felony on his record and some jail time. Fleeing a police officer is suppose to be a felony. and he should get a drug rap on his record too. Anyone could turn around and say, “oh, I just wanted to see what would happen….to bad, now you know and you have a record.” How is court suppose to believe you or not just because you state that….stupid people
