Albert Lea police cited eight Rochester John Marshall students for underage drinking Friday after a local mother reported the teenagers drinking at the school’s football game against Albert Lea.

According to police, the mother had reportedly parked next to a vehicle at the Hammer Complex that was playing loud music. There were reportedly students waving John Marshall flags around, and a bottle of alcohol in plain view in the car. A bottle was also reportedly being passed in the group in the parking lot.

An officer on duty at the football game called for backup, and more than 50 teenagers were ultimately tested for underage drinking.

The eight cited ranged in age from 16 to 18.

The 18-year-old was Madelaine Kathryn Glaeser of Rochester.

A ninth teenager was also cited for possession of tobacco.

Police stated no one would say where the alcohol came from.

Rochester John Marshall ultimately won the game 48-18. Albert Lea tied the game 12-12 in the second quarter, but the Rockets responded with two swift touchdowns before the half. The John Marshall student section taunted the Albert Lea fans with the chant, “Back to normal!”
