A.L. man stabbed

A 25-year-old Albert Lea man was stabbed Wednesday afternoon during an altercation on Newton Avenue.

According to a news release, the man underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

His name has not be released, and questions still remain as to how he was stabbed.

The release states the suspect who reportedly stabbed the victim fled from the scene and has not been arrested.

Authorities were alerted to the stabbing after the man came to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea at 4:17 p.m. He had been transported to the emergency room by a private vehicle right after the alleged assault at 1204 S. Newton Ave. and had reportedly been stabbed in the torso.

The incident remains under investigation, and police stated the general public is not at risk.

A police spokesman said the victim has not divulged much information about his wounds.
