Theresa M. Cowdin, 75, of Janesville, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery. The Cowdin Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and will continue on Friday for one hour prior to services. Arrangements are being completed by Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville.

Theresa Marie was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Janesville Township, Waseca County, to David and Marie (Munz) Cahill. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1955. Theresa was united in marriage to Walter Skrlin and later divorced. On Jan. 11, 1971, she married Theo E. Cowdin in Iowa. Theresa lived most of her life in the Janesville area, where she enjoyed 36 years of employment with Wiste’s Food Market. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Theresa loved birds and her garden. At the center of her life was the love she had for her family.

She is survived by her son, David (Sally) Skrlin of Albert Lea; daughter, Ann (Jason) Gerdts of Janesville; stepchildren: Dean (Jan) Cowdin of Madison Lake, Butch (Gail) Cowdin of Bella Vista, Ark., Carol (Fred) Glade of Hastings and Jody (Steve) Schroeder of Waseca; by her four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Robert Cahill of Waseca; sister, Betty Hibbard of Salida, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Lois Cahill of St. Paul and Bev Cahill of Salida, Colo.; brother-in-law, Paul Knutson of Richfield; by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Cowdin; brothers, Richard Cahill and Ed Cahill; sister, Mary Knutson; sister-in-law, Ruth Cahill; brother-in-law, Bill Hibbard; stepgranddaughter, Janelle Schroeder; former husband, Walter Skrlin.
