Dorothy Jane Nelson Holan Hougard was born on Dec., 13, 1924, in Albert Lea and passed away on Oct. 18, 2012, in Selma, Calif., at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Ida Nelson, her husband Hershal Hougard and her seven siblings.

She is survived by daughter Judy Holan-Riley of Redding, Calif.; daughter Jan Hougard-Burda of San Diego, Calif.; and son Jon Hougard of Fresno, Calif.  In addition she is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She spent the last eight years at Bethel Luthern Home in Selma, Calif. In addition to being a mother of three children, Dorothy was very active in her church, Pella Lutheran. Her favorite hobby was golf, where she was a two-time Club Champion, and held trophies for two hole-in-one shots.

Grave side services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. Page Funeral Home in Selma, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
