Minnesota Wild Lose First 5 Games to Lockout

The NHL’s cancellation of all games through Oct. 24 will include five Minnesota Wild games, three of which were at the Xcel Energy Center.

The league, which has locked out the players since the collective bargaining agreement expired, announced the cancellations Thursday, Oct. 4.

The Wild were scheduled to open the season with home games Oct. 13 (against the Colorado Avalanche) and Oct. 16 (against the Columbus Blue Jackets).

Minnesota then was supposed to play at Dallas (Oct. 18) and St. Louis (Oct. 20) before returning home to play the Montreal Canadiens (Oct. 23).

The next Wild game scheduled is Oct. 26 at Columbus.
