Separate rear-end crashes result in injuries

Two people were injured in separate rear-end collisions over the weekend on Bridge Avenue in Albert Lea.

According to police, the first crash took place Friday afternoon near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Glenview Drive.

A vehicle, driven by Diane Lynn Neitzel, 59, was driving north on the street and was reducing speed to make a left turn when she was reportedly rear-ended by another vehicle driven by Mildred Elizabeth Olson, 84.

Olson was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for unknown injuries.

The second crash took place at 1:50 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Sheridan Street.

According to police, Bill Villarreal, 57, of Albert Lea, was southbound on Bridge Avenue and was stopped to make a left turn onto Sheridan Street when he was reportedly rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Brian James Holland, 39, of Clarks Grove.

Holland was reportedly not paying attention and crashed into the vehicle, according to police.

Villarreal was transported to the Albert Lea hospital.
