The United Methodist Women met Sept. 5. Marcia Moyer introduced the speaker, Gail Dennison, director of development and public relations for the Hormel Institute in Austin, affiliated with University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic. It is a cancer research unit and 100 percent of every dollar donated goes to medical research.

Acting President Marcelle Erntson opened the business meeting. The secretary’s report was given by JoAnn Seuser. Treasurer’s report was read by Ruth Vermedahl. Spiritual growth chairwoman, Adean Turner, spoke about faith, with readings from the book of Acts. Sharon Nelson, social action chairwoman, urged members to visit shut-ins; especially the residents in nursing homes. Appropriate cards were sent by Rose Hood, Sunshine chairwoman.

Judy Hargrave recommended various books from the reading program. Also that the Emma Norton donations can be brought to the Fireside Room kitchen.

Desserts and servers were needed for serving afternoon coffee at St. John’s Lutheran Home on Sept. 9.

Members were reminded of the the United Methodist Women annual gathering Oct. 6 in Blue Earth. School supplies donations for the hands on mission project can be brought to these meetings.
