Kayaker rescued from lakePublished 9:47am Wednesday, November 14, 2012
LINDSTROM — A kayaker is in fair condition after being rescued from a lake in east-central Minnesota.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday about an overturned kayak near the middle of North Lindstrom Lake.
The caller reported he could see a person in the water holding on to the kayak. When Lindstrom firefighters arrived at the kayak with their air boat, other people were holding the man out of the water.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Andrew Simonette of Lindstrom, was suffering from hypothermia. He was in fair condition Tuesday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Authorities say Simonette was not wearing a life jacket.
