The Albert Lea Salvation Army is extending an invitation to the community of Freeborn County to join together for a Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fairlane Building at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

Community organizers of this event said this meal is intentionally on the day before the traditional Thanksgiving holiday because they want to celebrate this meal with the entire community.

“We want to have the feel of going to Grandma’s and celebrating with our families,” said Albert Lea Salvation Army Capt. Jim Brickson.

The meal is not to single out the less fortunate but to be inclusive of all of those that want to be family, he said.

Brickson said while the organization is blessed to have volunteers from the community who want to help with the meal, it wants to make sure everyone is able to participate in the event.

“We are extremely grateful to the volunteers who continue to take time out of their daily routine to help their neighbors,” Brickson said.
