Denver beats Minn. St., Mankato 3-2

MANKATO (AP) — Chris Knowlton’s second goal broke the tie Saturday, lifting Denver to a 3-2 win over Minnesota State, Mankato.
Knowlton’s goal at 16:48 of the third period helped the Pioneers (7-1-0, 5-1-0) sweep the Mavericks (3-5-2, 1-5-0) in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play. Denver won 4-3 on Friday.
MSUM’s Josh Nelson scored on a power play just 2:42 into the third period, knotting the game at 2-2. It was Nelson’s second goal of the season.
Eriah Hayes scored the Mavericks’ first goal at 15:07 in the first period.
Knowlton and Dan Doremus scored in the first period.
