Senior center Katie Loberg underwent arthroscopic knee surgery about two weeks ago and will miss the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team’s regular-season opener Saturday, coach Pam Borton said Tuesday.

Loberg, who led the Gophers in rebounding (5.6) and ranked third in scoring (9.1) last season, is expected back at practice this week. But the Princeton, native will not be ready to play until the Subway Classic opener against Ohio on Nov. 17.

“We’re missing a lot with her, just as far as depth,” Borton said. “We want to be able to move some kids around to other positions, and we’re not able to right now.”
