Violet Jensen, 87, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Violet M. (Babe) Jensen of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove. The Rev. Jamie Cameron will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Central Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery, Albert Lea.

Babe died on Wednesday morning, Oct. 31, 2012, at the Thorne Crest Retirement Community. She was 87 years of age.

Babe was born July 7, 1925, in Freeborn County the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Bothum) Mellang. She attended public school in Freeborn County. One Dec. 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Howard Jensen in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Babe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove and had been employed for many years as the office manager of the family real estate office.

Babe enjoyed hunting and went many times with her grandson deer hunting. She loved flowers, gardening and watching the birds, especially the cardinals. Many years ago she participated in the Miss Albert Lea Contest. She was always well dressed and looking her best for family and friends.

Babe is survived by her son Greg Jensen (Anna Rahn); grandchildren: Beau (Dawn) Jensen, Angela Jensen, Sonny Jensen, Amanda Rahn and Brynn Rahn. Also surviving is her former daughter-in-law Janet Jensen; nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Clayton (Red) Hougard.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard in 2010; brother Maynard; and sisters: Del Rose, Ruby June and LaFern.
