VFW Auxiliary

The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 447 Ladies Auxiliary met Dec. 10 in conjunction with the post for a potluck Christmas celebration dinner at 6 p.m.

After dinner each held their separate meetings at 7 p.m.

President Eunice Hatleli conducted the meeting. Secretary-Treasurer Lynda Vermedahl gave her reports, which were approved. Vermedahl stated she has several auxiliary sunflower cancer pins for sale for $4. This is a cancer project of the group.

The legislative directive asked them to be sure to write, call or email local legislators if they had opinions on veterans affairs.

Their poppy chairwoman, Betty Jones, entered a poppy display contest at the 1st District meeting at Northfield on Dec. 2. She won her category and received $15 for the auxiliary. Jones, Beverly Boone and Ruby Fredrickson had attended the meeting.

The charter was draped for auxiliary sister Elvira Lahs.

Vermadahl won the door prize.

Coffee and cookies were enjoyed after the meeting.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the American Legion hall on Thursday.

 

Grapevine Twist Square Dance Club

The Grapevine Twist Square Dance Club held a dance on Nov. 10 at the Senior Center at Skyline Plaza. Wayne Kubicek was the caller and called to over three squares.

Pumpkin desserts were served after the dance. Servers for the evening were Kent Craun and Linda Koopman.

The Grapevine Twist Square Dance club held another dance on Nov. 24. Ernie Auringer was the caller and called to over two squares.

There was a potluck after the dance. Lois Crabtree, Kent Craun, and Linda Koopman were the servers for the evening.

The next dance was Dec. 8. Mary Mehus was the caller and called to over three squares.

Christmas treats were served after the dance. Servers for the evening were Bruce and Donna Stolaas and Floran and Connie Peters.

Their next dance will be Jan. 12 at the Senior Center. Dick Severson will be the caller. There will be chili available after the dance. Visitors are welcome.
