VFW Auxiliary

The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilary met at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at the American Legion Hall. Senior vice president Marcia Petersen presided.

The regular short form meeting was held with reports and directives read to be acted on.

A donation was given to the veterans fishing outing.

The District VFW and Auxiliary’s February meeting will be Feb. 2 at the Cannon Falls Post at 218 N. Fourth St. in Cannon Falls. The meeting will commence at 9:30 a.m.

Coffee and rolls will be available prior to the meeting. Lunch will be served following the meeting at the Post home.

The annual memorial service will follow the luncheon. The names of 11 auxilary sisters were sent to be remembered at the service.

Schools of instruction will be cancer aid and research, youth activities and Americanism.

The group is honored to have Cindy Tews, the VFW ladies auxilary Department of Minnesota president, as their department representative.

Vickie Westeng served lunch and Ruby Fredrickson received the door prize.

The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Legion Hall. The Voice of Democracy winner will be present to receive the award.
