Roe v. Wade turns 40 tomorrow

Published 10:34am Monday, January 21, 2013

Jan. 22 will mark the 40th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court, which legalized abortion on demand in our nation. Since then, we have witnessed a holocaust of more than 55 million unborn babies killed — more than half of these were girls. Talk about a war on women!

Recently our nation felt the devastation wrought by a killer in Newtown, Conn., who senselessly murdered 26 innocent people including 20 young children. The late Mother Teresa of Calcutta once commented, “If a nation can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

Mother Teresa got it. She understood perfectly that there is a connection between a society that accepts, legalizes and protects the violence of abortion to what can happen in places like Newtown, Aurora, Colo., or Littleton, Colo.

She continued, “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts — a child — as a competitor, an intrusion and an inconvenience.”

These words spoken by Mother Teresa more than 20 years ago were prophetic and we are seeing the rotten fruits of what Planned Parenthood and its ilk continues to call “choice.” Last year alone, Planned Parenthood received $542 million of your dollars to help fund their abortion mills. They were responsible for a quarter of all abortions performed in the U.S. Shameful!

Let us pause today in silent prayer for an end to the culture of death and how we can become a society that once again welcomes and reveres all life as sacred. Let us work together to build a civilization of love that holds life, marriage and family in the highest regard.

To learn how you can help put an end to the violence of abortion and be a support for mothers, please call Minnesota Citizens Concerned For Life at 612-825-6831 or visit them on the web at www.mccl.org.

Scott, I don’t know of one single person that believes abortion is okay. Everyone knows it is wronge. I have been lucky never having to be in a situation where this decision had to be made. It is not an easy one to make no matter what the cercumstances are. I would like to hear what your suggestion is to stop it. Should we hang the girl if she has one? Maybe the father also? Or should we hang the doctor that performed the operation? 75% of the voters say they want a right to choose. 70% of catholics say they want the right to choose. I would like to hear from you what your suggestion would be to change the circumstances. I don’t see any solution in your letter. Wayne Thorson – Albert Lea, Minnesota

Wayne, first of all, I would like to know where you got your statistics? This country has been slowly but surely moving towards being pro-life for decades. If you go to Time.com and read their cover story on Roe vs. Wade, you will see that Planned Parenthood and the abortion indusry are ADMITTEDLY claiming they are losing the battle to keep abortion legal. If your numbers were correct, this article would never have been written by a liberal magazine like Time. I just came from the capital today. It was zero degrees outside and over 2,000 people showed up to defend the unborn. More importantly, most of this crowd was YOUNG people. The reason Roe vs Wade will be overturned is that the abortion lie cannot recruit new young members. Most of their ilk has a lot of gray hair and getting grayer. Abortion is a lie. Abortion is evil. Abortion harms women. My solution you ask? Through the courageous efforts of pro-life groups all over America, we have helped to pass many pro-life measures state by state saving the lives of thousands of babies. Abortuaries all over this country are closing down because it is a filthy rotten buisness based on nothing but lies. And, we have not forgotten the wounded mothers of these babies through groups such as Project Rachael which helps to heal the mothers who have been forever scarred by abortion. I gave you one website, MCCL.org and there are hundreds of others as well. Do the research, and above all, pray.

Oh, and if no one believes that abortion is okay as you stated, then we sure would have been blessed by their presence with us today at the capital! Nothing excites a politican to action like 50,000 folks on the steps of the capital.
