You Can Help

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, RSVP, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433 also 800-642-1875.

National Day of Service: What united the National Day of Service, held Saturday, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday? It’s you. As volunteers locally tackle some of our neighbor’s or community’s most pressing problems, we’re leveraging our nation’s greatest resource — the American people.

Girl Scouts: Share your special talent with another leader to provide Scouting experiences after school for second- and third-grade girls. Frequency depends on your availability — once or twice a month, perhaps. You can connect with Gege Abraham at 507-475-1755 or by email at gege.abraham@girlscoutsrv.org.

Morning reading club: Have you shared a great story recently, especially one that inspires elementary students? Sibley Elementary School needs two or three more adults willing to read to a small group in grades kindergarten through fifth. You can call Tina Talamantes at 377-2420 or Pat Stumme at 377-7433 to arrange for reading with the children between 7:45 and 8:20 a.m. on Wednesdays. Remember to leave a message saying when is the best time to return a call to you.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and Corporation for National and Community Service.
