The public is invited to join the Albert Lea High School choirs as they celebrate the power of music in students’ lives at their concert at 7 p.m. Monday, in the high school auditorium. The concert will feature the Tiger choir, varsity choir and concert choir. The choirs are directed by Diane Heaney. Tickets for the concert are $7 and $5 and are available at the door. Music concert passes are also good for this concert.

The concert has traditionally been done in March since March has been designated as Music in Our Schools Month by the National Association for Music Education. This year’s theme is “Orchestrating Success.” The school calendar made celebrating a week earlier in February the logical time for the choirs to perform this year. Several members of the Concert Choir will depart for New York City on March 13. They will be representing the community and the great Minnesota singing tradition when they perform in the Big Apple.

Students involved with music in Albert Lea are highly involved in many other school activities including sports, mock trial, drama, speech, BPA, FFA, National Honor Society and numerous other clubs and organizations. Their names can often be found on honor roll lists for every school term. They serve as positive community role models and ambassadors for Albert Lea wherever they perform. The choirs invite the public to come and enjoy the music.
