OWATONNA — A judge has found a man guilty of attempted murder for shooting at an occupied car outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Medford last year.

Jason Paul Krieg was found guilty Tuesday on two counts of attempted murder. But Krieg was acquitted on a charge of drive-by shooting.

Judge Joseph Bueltel ruled prosecutors proved Krieg was trying to kill a man who was sitting in his mother’s car when Krieg fired six bullets that struck the car. The man and his mother weren’t hit.

The defense argued Krieg was only trying to scare the man by firing into the car.

Krieg was arrested two days after the January 2012 shooting outside McDonald’s.

Krieg faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced May 1.
