Editorial: Get your taxes prepared sooner than later

It’s here, and many people already have filed their state and federal income taxes and eagerly are awaiting their refund.

For the rest of you, we have a suggestion: Make this tax season the one where you file early. Sure, you can do it in mid-April right before the IRS deadline, but why? If you expect to get a refund, why let the government keep your money any longer than necessary? If you expect to pay, we can understand why you might wait to place the documents in the mail; however, figuring out early what you will owe simply makes sense.

Also, if you have a tax preparer, why have them do your taxes when they are squeezed for time the most? Have them prepare your taxes when they can help you their very best service and offer the most advice.
