Updated: Young boy dies after farm accident in Hartland

HARTLAND — A 2-year-old boy died after an apparent farm equipment accident on a private property in rural Hartland Friday morning.

The incident took place at 32603 670th Ave., according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office. Initial reports indicated a skid loader was involved.

“The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Freeborn County Chief Deputy Glen Strom.

The name of the boy was not yet released.

The Hartland Fire Department, New Richland Ambulance and Gold Cross Ambulance crews responded to the scene, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The boy died at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the death. Strom said he plans to release more information Monday afternoon.
