ST. PAUL — In the Class AAA 182-pound championship, Triston Westerlund of Albert Lea ended the season 42-6 and earned the state runner-up spot.

In the battle for third place in Class AAA of the 113-pound weight class, Albert Lea’s Trevor Westerlund defeated Brandon Moen of Owatonna with a 15-6 major decision.

Westerlund led the entire match. He took a 6-2 lead halfway through the second period. In the third, Moen attempted a rally. Moen cut his deficit to one point (6-5) with only 30 seconds left in the match. However, Westerlund caught fire and earned a late near fall to secure the win.

Lucas Hansen led for all but the last two seconds in his 138-pound match for fifth place. He held a 1-0 lead until Jose Rodriguez earned a four-point near fall to win 4-1.
