The Albert Lea Knights 11AAA baseball team isn’t letting a snow and rain throw off its game this spring.

The Knights have partnered with the Albert Lea Family Y to hold fitness training sessions.

“Fitness is a big part of baseball,” Knights head coach Kelly Hendrickson said. “It’s important that the kids prepare for the season to cut down on injuries.”

Hendrickson is a co-head coach along with Steve Lehner, Tom Simon and Bryan Tlamka.

Directors of the Family Y, Dennis Dieser and Susie Holst, set the Knights up with their own trainer, Hendrickson said.

Due to inclement weather, the Knights have only taken the field once this season for practice, Hendrickson said.

The first game of the season is a tournament in Mason City.

The opening pitch is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
