Fox News neither fair nor balancedPublished 8:45am Monday, May 27, 2013
Last weekend I happened to run into an old acquaintance. The first thing he mentioned was the way I label Republicans using far-right loons.
I told him I got it off Fox News from Bill O’Reilly. Every time he talks about a Democrat he calls them a far-left loon. He never refers to a Republican as a far-right loon. They advertise that Fox News is fair and balanced. It is the most unfair and unbalanced network out there.
If it were fair and balanced, they would substitute a Democrat for O’Reilly when he goes on vacation occasionally. They always get a far-right loon like Laura Engrum to fill in for him.
I watch or listen to O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck quite often. All they ever do is trash President Barack Obama. I don’t know how anyone can take them seriously. I never heard them make a big issue out of George W. Bush when he misled all of us about weapons of mass destruction. Every one was misled that he had some inside information about this, but he didn’t.
It caused us to go into the longest war the United States ever was in. We lost more than 4,000 lives and more than 20,000 young Americans who were disabled for life and brought us into the biggest deficit we have ever had. That and reducing taxes in the middle of a war that keeps the deficit getting bigger all the time. This won’t turn around until we get the top 1 percent back to paying their fair share. But you will never convince a far-right loon of this. They blame Obama.
I predicted that a 911 would happen on Crawford, Texas, some time back. For those who don’t know, that’s where George W. Bush retired to. Every Sept. 11, I watch the news for something to happen. We all know how those Iraqis hold a grudge. This has to be one of the few times I was wrong.
In closing I would like to ask a Republican voter to put something in the paper about what one thing the Republican Party has ever done for them. I can’t think of anything. I still feel that President Harry Truman said it best when he said the Democrats work to help those who need help and the Republicans work to help those who don’t need help.
