Q: What school do you attend?

A: Glenville-Emmons

Q: Who is your immediate family?

A: My dad and mom are Kevin and Misty Nelsen, and I have three siblings: Madison, 14, Kaylee, 10, and Kole, 8.

Q: What sports are you involved in?

A: Volleyball, basketball and softball.

Q: What position do you play in softball?

A: First base. When I started, I was a catcher, but then I got taller than everyone else, so I moved to first, because I could stretch further to get the crazy throws.

Q: What is your
favorite part of playing softball?

A: It’s a fun sport. It’s more laid back, and I like that. In softball, you’ve got to work together.

Q: What number are you?

A: No. 8.

Q: How did you get started in baseball?

A: In elementary school, I saw the older girls playing. I went out for it, and I liked it.

Q: What sports did your family members play?

A: My mom played slow-pitch softball when I was younger, so she wanted me to play, but my dad was in track. They wanted me to participate, so they encouraged me to do whatever I could.

Q: What are your sports related achievements?

A:  Last year, I got the Golden Glove Award for fewest fielding errors.

Q: What are your sports related goals?

A: Have a better season than last year. This year I think we’ve gotten a lot closer as a team, so we can work together better. Our fielding is improved and we’ve had less errors.

Q: What are your college plans?

A: I am attending Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. I’m undeclared right now, but I’ll probably major in something in business.

Q: Who is your favorite professional baseball player? Why?

A: Joe Mauer. He’s really good and really hot.

Q: What is your favorite school subject?

A: Math-related things. I took accounting, and that was fun.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher?

A: Jan Belshan.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I like to hang out with friends and family, and I like to read. I play sports, and I’m in National Honor Society, Youth Advisory Committee, I’m a class officer — the secretary, and I’m student council vice-president.

A: Something easy that pays well.

A: I like “Teen Mom,” “16 and Pregnant,” and I like watching the Twins and the Wild play.
