Former Albert Lea teacher, principal and head football coach Jerry Nelson will be the speaker at the Albert Lea High School Hall of Fame banquet at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club July 12 and 13, according to a press release.

During his senior season, the 1957 Albert Lea High School graduate had the opportunity to begin a life-long friendship, playing football under current Hall of Fame inductee Jim Gustafson. Nelson went on to Luther College where he played three years of football. He then attended the University of Minnesota before going back to Luther College, where he graduated in 1962.
