No-wake warning issued for Fountain Lake

Published 10:06 pm Monday, May 20, 2013

Because of high water, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office has implemented a no-wake restriction for Fountain Lake.

The restriction went into effect at noon Monday.

“Recent rains have created high water levels,” a press release states. “Conditions exist that the water will continue to rise for several more days. High water will deteriorate shorelines and damage docks, boats and lifts, additional avoidable waves will only accelerated deterioration and increase damage.”

Postings of the no-wake restriction are at Edgewater Bay and Brookside Park boat landings as well as new flotation signs on the lake.

When the no-wake restriction is removed, notice will go out through a news release to media and the signs will be removed.
