Freemond Madson VFW

The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary met at 7 p.m. May 13 at the American Legion hall. President Eunice Hatleli presided.

The short form meeting was held.

Ten dozen energy bars were furnished for the annual Freeborn County Bike-A-Thon. The group will be supplying cookies for the July 3-5 south I-35 highway rest stop sponsored by the Southern Minnesota REACT club.

Members and volunteers will bake cookies at the Moose Club in Skyline Mall at 9 a.m. July 1.

The auxiliary draped the charter for auxiliary sister Lucille Hansen. Bless her memory.

New transfer member Mary Carlson was welcomed from Mankato.

Installation of 2014 officers was held. President will be Frances Camerer, Senior Vice President will be Marcia Petersen, Junior Vice President will be Vickie Westeng, conductress will be Betty Jones, chaplain will be Ruby Fredrickson, trustee No. 3 will be Hatleli and secretary and treasurer will be Lynda Vermedahl.

There is a reminder that the ninth through 12th grade students (public or independent schooling) to call chairman Marilyn Danielson at 373-0518, for instructions to the Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen and Patriotic Art contests so they can work on them this summer and maybe receive a worthwhile award in the fall.

Vermedahl received the door prize.

The Post served lunch.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Legion hall.
