Man arrested for vehicle theft

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Alipio Santiago Veitia for motor vehicle theft and driving after his license had been canceled at 351 S. Hillcrest Circle in Clarks Grove.

 

Tires reported slashed

Tires were reported slashed on a vehicle parked at 2410 Y.H. Hanson Ave. in Albert Lea at 11:07 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Xbox reported stolen

An Xbox was reported stolen from 1217 Madison Ave. at 4:06 p.m. Monday, according to Albert Lea police.

 

Woman cited for shoplifting

Albert Lea police cited Gabriela Cardenas Reyna, 47, for shoplifting from Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave., at 4:43 p.m. Monday, according to reports.

 

Father, toddler hurt in robbery chase, crash

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A police chase and crash has critically injured a father and his 1-year-old son in Monticello.

The Minnesota State Patrol says police were chasing a driver suspected of robbing Tootsies Tavern in Big Lake Monday evening. The 47-year-old male suspect is accused of pointing a weapon at a woman who was working at the tavern’s pull-tab booth. He fled with some cash in a Chevy Suburban.

Big Lake police pursued the man who broadsided the victims’ car at an intersection five miles from the tavern. Twenty-eight-year-old Travis Kolles and his 1-year-old son, Layton, were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where they are both listed in critical condition.

The suspect was not seriously injured.
