John Bateman, 76, of Bloomington and formerly of Belle Plaine, died on Friday, July 19, 2013. John served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Western and Delta Airlines.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne; children, Michael (Lynn), Sheila (Marty) Groves, Greg (Abby); grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph, David, Sarah, Willy, John and Amber; sister-in-law, Jan (Dean) Hoeve; and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Riverside Reformed Church, or American Lung Association.

Interment will be at Fort Snelling.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday with visitation one hour prior at Riverside Reformed Church, 10201 Nicollet Ave., Bloomington. Visitation also be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Werness Brothers Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington.
