MINNEAPOLIS — A special state House committee on living wage jobs is holding a hearing in Minneapolis on how the state can help meet the need for more workforce training.

The Select Committee on Living Wage Jobs was slated to meet this morning at a Minneapolis community center. Democrats who control the House established the special committee earlier this year with a goal of pursuing government policies that create better-paying jobs for people on the lower end of the economic spectrum.

Thursday’s hearing will include testimony from the organization known as HIRED, a workforce development group based in Minneapolis. HIRED boasts of training more than 10,000 people a year for better placement in the workforce.
