William Lyle, 89, Oakland

The funeral service for William J. Lyle Jr. of Oakland will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hayward Lutheran Church in Hayward. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Albert Lea Hospice, Hayward Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s.

William died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home. He was 89 years old.

William was born July 27, 1923, in Oakland Township, Freeborn County, to William and Gustava (Christopherson) Lyle. He graduated from Austin High School. William lived his whole life in Oakland and attended Hayward Lutheran Church. He married Lucille Williamschen on Feb. 27, 1949. He was a proud beef producer, board member on the Oakland Farmers Elevator and served on the building committee for Oakland Lutheran Church. William enjoyed woodworking, his farm and traveling in his RV. He especially loved his grandchildren and the summers he spent with them on the farm.

William is survived by his children, LuVern (Colleen) Lyle of Oakland, Rosalyn Lyle of Oakland and JoAnn (James) Joachim of Owatonna; grandchildren, Melissa (Alvin) Barclay of Oakland, Michael (Hilary) Joachim of Rochester, Nicole (Ryan) Schumacher of Burnsville and Mathew (“Nicki”) Joachim of Owatonna; great-grandchild, Jacob Joachim; and other loving relatives and friends.

William is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gustava Lyle; wife, Lucille Lyle; son, Alan Lyle; and brother, Calvin Lyle.
