Cancer takes another victim

Cancer victim James Stripe died Thursday after a long battle against the disease. A death notice appears on Page 3.

His situation became well-known when the community had turned out in mid-June for a benefit at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club for him and his wife, Tina.

James was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2010, but with surgery and chemotherapy was doing better. Then a little more than a year later, Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a scan showed a spot on James’ lung. Both received care again, and Tina is now a cancer survivor. Another scan showed James had small tumors in several areas of his body, and he was unable to work while undergoing chemotherapy. James and Tina have three children, Carlton, Karina and Chole.
