Son turns out to be a Republican

In answer to Tom Jacobson’s letter on Aug. 25, did he even read my letter? Yes, I read your letter, Tom. You claim you expressed your opinion in your Aug. 15 letter. This was not your opinion. Everything in it was mentioned on Fox News.

Maybe you missed it, but I didn’t. I wish you would address the fact of how many times the Republicans have tried to undo Obamacare and have failed. Also why do they keep filibustering President Barack Obama’s bill on jobs. This is information I got off MSNBC. This is not something you will hear on Fox News.

I also mentioned that you should go to an insurance agent and find out how much it would cost you to cover your family with health insurance right now. Then compare it with what the Average Joe will pay with Obamacare. I know because I have been there. I worked at the packinghouse for 25 years. I worked for a living. I had to buy health insurance when I lost my job, and it took up almost all of my unemployment check.

There are Republicans who are putting the blame on Obamacare for businesses cutting back the 40 hour work week. Everyone knows that Walmart has been doing this for years. Other businesses are trying to copy their success. The Walmart family has more money than the bottom 40 percent of the population we have today. Fox News tries to put this blame on Obamacare. Obamacare doesn’t take effect until 2014. Every far-right Fox News addict will swallow that Obamacare is at fault for it, and you can’t convince them otherwise.

I have several friends and acquaintances who are Republicans. I do enjoy our conversations. I have a son who lives in Dallas. He married a sweet Southern belle and they have three beautiful kids. He is an attorney and has his own law firm.

The whole family is big in their church down there. I am so proud of them even though he turned out to be a Republican. I don’t for the life of me know where I went wrong. Tom I requested in my Aug. 20 letter for you or another far right Republican to write a letter to the editor talking about what they feel the Republican Party has ever done for them. I had put this in one of my previous letters also. I can’t think of one thing they have done for the Average Joe or me.
