Albert Lea senior soccer player aspires to be a nutritionist

Q: What year are you in school?

A: Senior.

Q: What school do you attend?

A: Albert Lea High School.

Q: Who is your immediate family?

A: My dad and mom are Jim and Cindy. I have two older sisters, Emily and Allison.

Q: What sports are you involved in?

A: I play soccer in the fall and summer.

Q: What is your favorite part of playing soccer?

A: It’s great being outside with my friends, and I like the competitiveness of it.

Q: What has playing soccer taught you?

A: It’s taught me to work together with my teammates.

Q: What number are you?

A: No. 5.

Q: How did you get started in soccer?

A: My sister Allison played at Albert Lea, and she just told me to start with the basics. Her senior year, three years ago, she was a captain.

Q: What sports did your family members play?

A: My mom and dad didn’t play sports. Besides Allison playing soccer, Emily was captain of the Albert Lea tennis team.

Q: What are your college plans? 

A: I’m looking at Winona State and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, hoping to go into health and wellness. Maybe nutrition, I’m not sure. I’ve always been interested in those things.

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?

A: Alex Morgan. She’s on the U.S. women’s soccer team.

Q: What is your favorite school subject? 

A: Band. I play clarinet, and I really like music.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher? 

A: Kevin Gentz or Jim Haney, my math and history teachers.

Q: What are your hobbies? 

A: I like listening to music, hanging with friends, jogging and playing soccer.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: I’d like to work for a big company to educate employees on their health — being a nutritionist.

Q: What is your favorite TV show?

A: “Impractical Jokers,” and I really like “Modern Family.”

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: BLT’s (Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches). I just really like them.

Q: What is an interesting fact about you?

A: I’m from Albert Lea, and I watched the World Cup and other important games on TV. It’s interesting to see all the different ways to score goals.
