MINNEAPOLIS — A former Minneapolis church worker has admitted stealing more than $300,000 from her employer over the past decade by taking extra paychecks.

Fifty-one-year-old Raenay Hendrickson of Brooklyn Park pleaded guilty to five counts of theft by swindle over $5,000.

Hendrickson worked for 16 years for the Minneapolis Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Hennepin County Attorney’s office said Hendrickson had full access to the church’s checking account.

Prosecutors and Hendrickson’s defense agreed that her embezzling dates back to at least 2002, and stopped only when she was fired in July 2012.

Hendrickson is expected to receive one year and five months in prison when she is sentenced Nov. 4. A judge will determine how much restitution she’ll have to pay.
