The Albert Lea volleyball team lost its first match of the season 3-0 Thursday against Owatonna.

“It didn’t go our way, and we have some things we need to fix,” Albert Lea head coach Lisa Deyak said. “But, we’ve made a lot of progress since last year, so I’m pleased with that.”

Annie Ladwig led the Tigers with 16 digs, 11 kills and three blocks. Bryn Woodside earned a team-high 20 assists.

Despite being swept, the Tigers didn’t lose a game by more than five points.

“We were leading in all the games at one point or another,” Deyak said. “It was back-and-forth.”

Albert Lea is 3-1 on the season and will play next at the Hayfield Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
