The auxiliary needs help. The dues barely cover the minimum donation the auxiliary is required to give to its cancer and veterans programs. There is quite a large membership, but very few helpers. The auxiliary needs volunteers and attendance for the projects.

There will be a cancer aid and research raffle. Tickets are $1. There will be five prizes. The drawing will be at the annual free membership luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18. Guest lunches are $6. Officers have tickets, and they will be available at the lunch.

It was voted that the meeting night lunch money will go to the cancer aid research project.

The department fall conference will be in Alexandria, where a poppy contest is held, on Sept. 13-15. A poppy tea luncheon is back on the schedule.

Cancer aid research apparel will be available at the fall conference.

Besides the cross of Malta, the VFW buddy poppy is the organization’s most visible symbol.

Poppy funds go to the relief funds for veterans. The poppies are assembled by disabled vets for therapy and income.

Trustee Betty Jones read the audit report which was approved.

The door prize was won by Jones.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the American Legion.
